Some High Street Jewellery Shops charge high prices to repair jewellery, I don't !
I use a material called 'Soft Flex' for most jewellery repairs and restringing. It consists of 19-49 strands of steel wire coated in nylon and is very flexible.
This material is very long lasting and can hold even large heavy beads safely. In addition I can restring an old bead necklace in a contemporary style shortening or lengthening it if needed

My tips on choosing jewellery
|
Bracelets in particular need to be very strong as they suffer more strain than necklaces.Thin cords and elastic will soon break.Check if possible the strands are thick enough and where the strands bend they are not fraying.
Necklaces of multistrands of small beads often are made up quickly using a thin mono nylon thread. This is strong but not flexible so it breaks if it bends.
Sometimes I'm sent necklaces that are designed in such a way that however they are strung they will soon break. If you have a necklace that keeps breaking it may need to be strung differently. Some beads can be very abrasive and need 'lining' in a tube of seed beads.
|
When you buy a cheap necklace from a high street store or supermarket you may have to accept that if you love it you'll need to have it restrung on more hardwearing thread or in a different way
I am able to source most types of antique/ethnic beads for repair work including amber, glass, jet and stone beads.
