BEADMAKING IN GHANA TODAY

There is a thriving bead industry centered mainly in the Krobo Region.
The makers use old glass bottles that they crush up and put into clay moulds for firing. Many of the designs are copies of the old Venetian Millefiori beads that were so popular in Ghana.

We visited one bead factory in the region and were shown how these beads are made.
Many people are employed in the production of beads and hopefully they will find a popularity world wide bringing prosperity to the area.

The photo on the right show a variety of locally made beads.
